What is the 90's League? |
The 90's League was devised and implemented by Tony
Gillett of Chobham Golf Club in 1994 in order to offer competitive inter club golf to
the male members of clubs in the NW Surrey area that opened in the early 1990s. |
The original six participating clubs were – |
Chobham,
Clandon Regis, Milford,
Pyrford,
Sutton Green and
Windlesham.
A year later Milford resigned but fortunately Merrist Wood took their place the following year. |
Matches are played in a home and away basis in a 'four ball better ball' format to decide at the end of
the season the league winner. |
In October of every year a presentation dinner is held in rotation at one of the clubs.
The presentation is preceded by a Texas Scramble. |
In August each year a 90s League Championship Day is held in which each club submits 5 tigers and 5 rabbits. The
format is individual stableford with all 10 scores contributing to their Club's total. Once again each club acts as host of this event in rotation. |
A 'four ball better ball' summer knock out is also operated for those clubs wishing to submit up to
two pairs of tigers and 2 pairs of rabbits. The final being played on presentation day. |
